THE ATTACHMENT THEORY THROUGH A PERSONAL NARRATIVE
My final undergraduate thesis manifested into a series of sculptural jewelry pieces, which were designed to depict the different emotional and social challenges experienced by a child caught in the storm of a custody battle. The separation from one or both of the primary caregiver is a traumatic experience for a child and can lead to 'Reactive Attachment Disorder'.
The objects were designed from a child's perspective by conducting research into attachments found within toys and incorporating them within the design concept. The finale outcome was an extrapolation of the research and my personal experience dealing with the disorder. The thesis aims to bring more awareness of the emotional and mental struggles faced by children an adult-dominated world.
